The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has retierated its commitment towards conducting credible, free, inclusive and transparent elections, come 15th August governorship election poll.

‎Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, gave the assurance while addressing newsmen in her office, at the Commission headquarters in Osogbo.

‎Mrs Babalola who noted that without the media the society cannot be informed, tasked the media to correct anomalies as regards misinformation and disinformation about election matters.


Mrs Babalola gave assurance that the commission will work with the media community to ensure a credible, free, inclusive, transparent, and fair governorship election.

‎The State INEC REC maintained that the media is an advocate of peaceful coexistence and tolerance in society, adding that INEC will do its part in dissemination of information to the public.

‎She added that the commission would continue to ensure regular training and re-training of its ad-hoc staff for optimal performance.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun State, Mrs. Feyijimi Saseyi has appealed to community leaders and other relevant bodies to mobilize the citizens for active participation in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration Exercise. 

The Resident Electoral Commissioner emphasised that the people’s participation was key to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

Speaking at a forum with media professionals in Abeokuta, Mrs. Saseyi commended the steady progress of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state. 

She explained that the exercise which commenced on August 18 would run for about a year to accommodate fresh registration for those who just turned 18, transfer of voter registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs and correction of errors.

Mrs. Saseyi explained that the process could be completed online via the INEC portal, while physical registration would take place at local government offices across the state.

She encouraged Nigerians to rise to the responsibility of getting registered to be able to vote during elections.
