The Federal Government has acknowledged the crucial role of private investment in the growth and sustainability of sports in the country.

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John  Enoh, stated this during his visit to the headquarters of Remo Stars Football Club In Ikenne, Ogun State.

The Minister’s visit was marked by a comprehensive tour of the club’s state-of-the-art facilities, with the President of the club, Mr Kunle Soname leading the tour.

Senator Enoh expressed his admiration for the impressive infrastructure and facilities at Remo Stars, highlighting the club’s dedication to providing a world-class environment for its players and staff. 

The Sports Minister who noted that the responsibility of sports development should not be shoulder on the government alone, commended Mr Kunle Soname and the entire management team for their commitment to the development of football in Nigeria.

He gave the assurance that Ministry of Sports Development would actively encourage and support private investment in sports across the nation

In a remark, Mr Kunle Soname expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit and reiterated the club’s commitment to contributing to the overall development of sports in Nigeria.

He noted that the visit would catalyze a more robust and inclusive sports ecosystem in Nigeria.

The Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has congratulated the management and technical staff of Remo Stars Football Club, Ikenne-Remo for the club’s historic qualification for the prestigious CAF Champions League, just a year after playing in the CAF Confederation cup

A statement jointly signed by SWAN Chairman, Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde and Secretary, Mr Michael Azeez-Ogunsiji attributes the return of the Ikenne based club to rapid investment, hard work, dedication of the owner and the  entire staff of Remo Stars Football Club.

It maintains that picking up second position in the just concluded Super Six playoff with 9 points same as the league champions Enyimba was a reward of financial investment driven by passion to redefine football management in Nigeria and put Ogun state on the world map once again.

The association expressed optimism that Remo Stars would make Nigerians and Ogun state proud when the competition kicks off next season.

SWAN congratulated Mr Kunle Soname for providing platform for the youths to showcase their talents and disabuse their minds against social vices through the establishment of his noble initiative, Remo Stars Football Club.

Remo Stars Football Club, RSFC, have conducted COVID-19 test for its players and management as the club resumes preparation ahead of the upcoming Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

The test was conducted immediately after the club resumed from the Yuletide break to put the players and officials in good medical state before the commencement of the season.

The Team Manager, Mr Yinka Samuel explained that the test was in compliance to the guidelines set by the Presidential Task Force, PTF, and made mandatory by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to all football teams taking part in the three tiers of the country’s leagues.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, had approved January 16th as kick-off date for the Nigeria National League.

A sports Administrator, Mr Kunle Soname has advised Ogun State Government to use the powerful tool of sports to engage talented youths as part of measures to curb social vices in the state and Nigeria.

Mr Soname gave the advice when he received the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Oluwadare Kehinde and members of the Technical Committee on Resuscitation and Repositioning of Sports in Ikenne.

The proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club said sports has potential to make the state great, if the abundant talents discovered at the grassroots were properly harnessed and nurtured to stardom to represent the state and country at major sporting events.

Mr Soname who promised to look into areas that he could invest in sports, encouraged the state government to look into other sporting activities apart from football, which he said was cheaper and more rewarding.

Earlier, Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Oluwadare Kehinde had explained that the committee was set up to stimulate the sports sector and also engage youths in sporting activities.

Dr Kehinde solicited the support of Mr Soname to ensure the state’s successful outing at the forthcoming National Sport Festival tagged; “Edo 2020”.
