A fourteen year old male student of Salvation Army Secondary School, Osogbo was this morning killed by a moving car in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The incident happened beside Ebunoluwa School along the Dele Yessir corridor of the Onababaona expressway, Osogbo.

The boy, named David Oyagbile was hit by the car and thrown off the main road leading to his death on the spot immediately he landed on the other side of the road.

When Radio Nigeria got to the scene of the accident, the car with registration number KWL 588 NU had been thrown off the road by mob who attacked the driver and attempted to set the vehicle ablaze.

A witness to the incident, who simply gave his name as John explained that immediately the car hit the boy, he attempted to escape but was given a hot chase by commercial motorcyclist.

“He wanted to escape but about 8 okadas pursued him and we dragged back to the scene of the accident”

Another witness, a female who identified herself as Ebun, said the driver did not attempt to run, but made a U-turn to see if the victim could still be rescued before the mob bounced on him.

About 3 sets of Police team that attempted to rescue the driver were resisted by the mob until a senior police officer intervened and persuaded the mob.

The driver, who had been inflicted with varying degrees of injuries, was eventually rescued by the senior police officer, a DSS official and men of the NSCDC who drove him away.

When Radio Nigeria approached the senior police officer for reaction, he declined comments, saying only the PPRO could speak on the matter.

As at the time of filing this report, the vehicle has been successfully prevented from being burnt by the mob.
