Retired managers from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, in Ibadan National Station recently reunited with current staff.

The gathering was organized by the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) to discuss the future of the FRCN and the welfare of its current employees.

Former FRCN Ibadan Zonal Director, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph, advised the members to prioritize their health.

She also stressed the importance of maintaining social connections that can be helpful after retirement.

Other retired leaders also shared their wisdom.

Retired Director of New Media, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi, and former Director of News and Current Affairs, Mr. Adenrele Ajisefini, offered advice.

The immediate past SSASCGOC Chairman, Mr. Femi Oladiipo, who is also the former General Manager of Positive FM Akure, joined them.

They urged the staff to keep their passion for the job, focus on their health, and start planning for their retirement.

They emphasized that being diligent while in office will positively impact their future after leaving the FRCN.

Proprietor of Radiance Schools in Apata, Ibadan, Pastor Oluremi Olajengbesi, also encouraged association members to contribute more meaningfully during their active service and after.

The current SSASCGOC Chairman, Mr. Sunday Olowookere, explained the reason for the meeting noting that it was vital for members to learn from the “retired but not tired” veterans.

Mr Olowookere said their wealth of experience will inspire the current staff toward a better future.

The Vicar of Osibo Memorial Anglican Church in Molete, Ibadan, The Venerable Samuel Aiyegbusi, has admonished members of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, to remain undaunted in their duties.

The Venerable Aiyegbusi delivered this charge during the association’s thanksgiving service at the church auditorium.

Preaching a sermon titled, “Living for God,” the cleric urged the union members to emulate the tenacity of the biblical figure Nehemiah, who persevered despite opposition and challenges.

The Venerable Aiyegbusi emphasized that every individual possesses inherent talents for a purposeful societal impact.

He stressed the need for everyone to leave an indelible mark in their endeavors, regardless of demeaning utterances from opponents.

Venerable Aiyegbusi also challenged the leadership of the FRCN to acknowledge the emerging competitive broadcast environment and reposition the establishment for greater performance.

In an interview, the Chairman of SSASCGOC’s FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station Chapter, Mr. Peter Olowokere, advised his members to imbibe the lessons from the sermon and make a positive impact within and outside the corporation.

Highlights of the event included a Bible reading, praise sessions, and special prayers for SSASCGOC members and the entire Radio Nigeria workforce, which the church Vicar led.

Chief Imam of Oodua Central Mosque Dugbe, Alhaji Abduljelil Basunu has  admonished staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan  Zonal Station to uphold godliness and remain just in their conducts. 

Alhaji Basunu gave the admonition during a special Jumat Service marking the opening activities of Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, FRCN chapter in Ibadan Zonal Station.

The cleric warned against inordinate crave for materialism and urged the association’s members to be compassionate, generous and selfless in their service to humanity for eternal rewards.

Alhaji Basunu called on the members, irrespective of religion, socio-economic status, to assist the less privileged in society, saying such a gesture aligned with God’s plan for all.

Reacting, Chairman, SSASCGOC FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Sunday Olowokere said the Juma’at Service was Organized to appreciate God for his goodness and blessings.

The week continues on Sunday with a thanksgiving service at Oshibo Memorial Anglican church, Molete Ibadan at 10, O clock in the morning.

The President General, Senior Staff Association Of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, Mr Kayode Alakija has debunked the rumour going around that its members will not further benefit from weigh-in allowance.

Mr Alakija stated this during a courtesy call on the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan.

He said the union needed to clear the air on the false report, stressing that the weigh-in allowance was jointly negotiated by all the leaders of the various unions.

Mr Alakija maintained that the visit to the Ibadan Zonal Station of the FRCN was a periodic check on the welfare of the members and to inform them of the programmes of the union.

In a remark, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation Of Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan represented by the Deputy Director Of Programmes, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, thanked the union for clearing the air on the false information urged them to always prioritize their members’ welfare.

Mr Mokikan said the corporation would continue to support all the in-house unions for the overall development of the organization.
