The bishop of Owo diocese, Anglican communion, The Right Reverend Stephen Fagbemi has called for an end to banditry in the country.
The right reverend Fagbemi made the call in Ibadan while speaking at the 8th Synod of the Ibadan north Diocese, Anglican communion.
Speaking on the theme of the synod: “three philosophies of life: beat them up; pass them up; lift them up” taken from Luke 10 verses 30 to 35, the Lord Bishop of Owo Diocese, lamented the spate of killings, kidnappings for ransome and selfishness ravaging the country.


The cleric who expressed optimism for a better Nigeria said the level of poverty in the country required a change in the narratives.
He urged the congregation to eschew ethnic and religious considerations in electing credible leaders as the 2023 elections draw nearer.


The Lord Bishop of Owo Diocese appealed to Christians to be selfless and embrace communal efforts in order to realize the desired development in the country.
High point of the event are prayers for the Nation’s leaders, religious tolerance, restoration of peace, freedom, justice and employment for graduates.
Also, the programme witnessed presentation of awards to distinguished members of the diocese of Ibadan north diocese, Anglican communion.
Other activities of the 3rd session of the 8th synod continue on Monday, May 2nd with a charge by the president of the Synod, The most Reverend Segun Okubadejo who will review activities of the diocese and also address contemporary issues in the country.

The federal government has been called upon to come up with a national summit to address issues confronting the country.

The Diocesan Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend Segun Okubadejo made the call while delivering the Bishop’s Charge of the second session of the Eighth Synod of the diocese.

According to   the Most Reverend Okubadejo, the National Summit if conveyed  would discuss issues of equal rights, justice and equity.

He said for Nigeria to remain an entity, the citizens must not be oppressed and the resources of the nation would be distributed equally.

The Most Reverend Okubadejo stressed the need for all tiers of government to provide enabling environment for small businesses to survive.

A bishop of the Diocese of Igbomina West of the Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Olajide Adebayo has called for judicious use of the fund donated for the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

He stated this during a lecture at the opening service of the first session of the 8th Synod held at Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo Ibadan.

Reverend Adebayo said considering the havoc that COVID-19 had caused, it would be unfair if the fund meant to fight the virus was not effectively managed.

Reverend Adebayo noted that Christians should not be wary or tired in calling on God for salvation from the calamity that has been troubling the country.

On his part, the Diocesan Bishop and the President of Synod, The Most Reverend Segun Okubadejo said Christians should always work in the Lord’s way and never be tired of turning to him when the need be.

 He said the purpose of the yearly synod was to check the progress of the Anglican Communion and the way forward in the Lord’s way.

The most Reverend Okubadejo said the programme was also targeted at some Christians who are becoming tired of the Lord due to one problem or the other.

Two of the diocese members, who were recognized and honoured for working for the Lord, Mr Segun Oladejo and Mrs Roseline Aborisade, said the award would go a long way in making them better Christians.

The first session of the eight synod which started on Sunday would come to an end on Thursday.
