The police in Ogun State have arrested a man, Joseph Oyedele and his wife Elizabeth for allegedly invading Toyon High school, Ere Village in Ado-Odo Area of Ado Odo-Ota Local Government with thugs to beat a teacher, Abel Thomas for beating their son.

The suspects were arrested after the policemen attached to Ado-Odo Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from the school, that parent of one of their students had beaten and injured one of the teachers.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the couple in a statement in Abeokuta.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the teacher, Abel Thomas was said to have moderately corrected an SS3 student of the school, Joshua Joseph who went home to inform his parent that he was beaten by the teacher. 

He pointed out that the parent mobilized some thugs and descended heavily on the teacher, beating and injuring him. 

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspects also damaged the back screen of a Toyota Corolla with registration number LSD 395 FV belonging to another teacher of the school, Jolayemi Sunday. 

He noted that the injured teacher had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has ordered that the escaped thugs who accompanied the couple to attack the school be hunted for and brought to justice. 

Mr Bankole also directed that the arrested couple be charged to court without delay.

A 14-year-old housemaid, Favour Iwuozor, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly abducting and running away with her mistress’s 2-year-old son.

The suspect was arrested after one Victoria Nwafor had reported at Sagamu Divisional Headquarters that she saw a 14-year-old girl on the 22nd of December 2021, with a very sick two-year-old boy in Yaba Lagos. 

She told the policemen that she decided to take them to her house when the suspect had claimed that the small boy was her younger brother and that their parents died in a ghastly accident in December 2020.

Nwafor explained that she became suspicious when the suspect wanted to single-handedly take the boy to Imo State after the boy had fully recovered.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspect said the girl confessed that she was a maid to the mother of the little boy.

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect had gone to the church to take the boy who was released to her by a Sunday school teacher on the grounds that the suspect was well known with the baby’s mother.

The PPRO noted that the suspect claimed that she decided to beg for alms to raise transport fare to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mberna Local Government Area of Imo state. 

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has ordered that the baby’s parents be contacted urgently, while the case should be forwarded to Lagos State Command whose jurisdiction the crime was actually committed.
