 Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has expressed readiness of his government to have an open-engagement with labour leaders on the issue of minimum wage without political sentiment.

He stated this when he received the members of the Trade Union Congress a led by Comrade Emmanuel Ogundiran on a Courtesy visit to his office.

Governor Makinde promised to put necessary measures in place to boost internally generated revenue (IGR) in the state to settle the state’s wage bill.

Governor Makinde said government and labour were equal partners as no progress could be made in the state without industrial harmony and restated his administration commitment in ensuring workers welfare to the welfare through regular payment of salaries and allowances

He called for support of labour leaders in the state for good governance while promising training and re- training of workers for effective service delivery.

Earlier, Oyo State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress TUC, Mr Emmanuel Ogundiran canvassed for workers’ welfare, trainings, better conditions of service and tackling casualization of workers in the private sector. 

Comrade Ogundiran commended the current administration for the prompt payment of workers salaries.
