Yahoo Boys Kidnap Colleague over Proceeds of Fraud

Four suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo boys have been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for abducting their colleague over sharing of proceeds of fraud business. 

In a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects, Agbe Simeon ‘m’, Messiah Nicky ‘f’, Oladapo Dolapo ‘m’ and Yetunde Shonola ‘f’ were arrested at Orile Imo village in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, following information received by the police at Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters, that one Haruna Usman, who had been abducted since Thursday, 22nd of December 2022, was being held hostage somewhere in Orile Imo. 

Mr Oyeyemi said upon the information, the DPO Owode Egba Division, CSP Popoola Olasunkanmi, quickly mobilized his men and stormed the area, where four of the abductors were apprehended while two others escaped. 

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects belonged to an internet fraudster syndicate and that they recently swindled somebody whose identity was not yet known of the sum of twenty-six million, four hundred and thirty-seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty naira (#26,437,950), but the victim only gave the sum of #2,200 to his other colleagues, claiming that the money had not been paid completely by their client. 

He explained that this infuriated his colleagues who then lured him to a herbalist home at Orile Imo and held him, hostage, there since Thursday, 22nd of December 2022, with the threat to kill him there if he refused to give them their complete share.

 The police spokesperson said information got to the police who moved in, rescued the victim and apprehended four of the abductors, while others escaped. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, cp Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspects be transferred to anti-kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Police Arrest Two ‘Yahoo Boys’ who allegedly Killed Man for Ritual

Operatives of Ogun state Police Command have arrested two suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo Boys for killing a 40 year old man Abdullahi Azeez , for ritual.

The suspects including Friday Odeh and Poso Idowu were arrested following a report lodged at Owode Egba divisional headquarters by  the relations of the victim, who reported that the victim left his home at Kobape area of the state and did not return since then.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta, the anti kidnapping unit of the state Criminal Investigation Departments have been directed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole,  to take over the investigation and unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the man.

He explained that the police embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation which led them to the hideout of one of the suspect Friday Odeh where the sim card of the victim was recovered while His arrest also led to the apprehension of his accomplice Poso Idowu.

Mr Oyeyemi noted that the suspects confessed that they kidnapped the victim and forcefully took him to the bush, killed him and cut him into pieces.

The PPRO said all efforts to recover the remains of the victim proved abortive as the suspects claimed to have disposed it, adding that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Mr  Lanre Bankole.

Suspected Yahoo Boys Arrested for Allegedly Raping a Teenager

Ogun State Police command has arrested three suspected Yahoo boys for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old girl in Ijebu Ode area of the state.

The suspects, Tunde Taiwo, Damilola Adesina and Adegoke Amos were arrested after the victim had reported the incident at Ilese Police Divisional Headquarters, Ijebu Ode that the suspects took turns to rape her at gun point.

The victim told policemen that she was going somewhere around Ita-Ale area of Ilese Ijebu when she was accosted by the suspects who rode a Lexus ES 350 and forcefully dragged her into the car.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that one of the suspects was arrested by the operatives of Ilese Police Division who also led the police to other two, and they were subsequently arrested.

Mr Oyeyemi pointed out that the suspects confessed to committing the crime.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

16 Internet Fraudsters Bags Jail Term in Abeokuta

A Federal High Court in Abeokuta has sentenced sixteen internet fraudsters also known as yahoo boys to different jail terms.

A statement by the spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Dele Oyewole made available to newsmen in Abeokuta explained that Justice Mohammed Abubakar who presided over the court convicted the sixteen accused finding them guilty of criminal impersonation and possession of documents containing false pretenses.

The statement listed the names of the convicted as Ajibola Ibikunle, Victor Solomon Osahun, Adeniyi and Afeez Adebayo.

Other convicted included Enitan Babajide Ganiu, Ashore Gbogbo Ayo, Sobayo Oladapo, Odebode Abiola Jamiu and Dairo Emmanuel Olajide.

The list also includes Stephen Mathew, Hussain Abdulkabir, Ayanniyi Quadri Ayansegun, Ajibike Kehinde Segun, Ibironke Tomiwa Emmanuel,

Agboola Olanrewanju Shakiru, Abdulrauf Adam Opeyemi and Akinlabi Royal Ebube completed the list of the sixteen jailed yahoo boys.

Mr. Oyewole said the convicts were all in their mid-twenties and pleaded guilty to one-count charge of impersonation separately filed against them by the EFCC.

According to him, the Prosecution counsels, Mr. Bashir Shamsuddeen, and Mr. Abdulrasheed Suleiman prayed the court to convict them accordingly.

The breakdown of the jail terms showed that Odebode would be in jail for two months while Ajibola, Osahun, Adebayo, Enitan, Ashore, Matthew, Ajibike and Akinlabi were sentenced to three months jail each, while Ayanniyi, Sobayo, Ibironke and Abdulrauf would spend four months in jail.

Abdulkabir and Dairo were also handed six months jail term each, while Agboola was sentenced to eleven months imprisonment.

The statement noted that the court ruled that the convicts would all forfeit items recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria while they must also restitute sundry sums to their respective victims.
