Ekiti: Reinstated LG Chairmen, Councilors Resume Duty
Eight out of the sixteen local government chairmen including their councilors recently reinstated by the Ekiti State House of Assembly, EKHA on Monday resumed at their respective duty posts.
The sixteen local government chairmen were suspended by the immediate past House of Assembly for alleged misappropriation of funds while executive members of eight local governments were reinstated as the other eight were suggested for prosecution by the present House of Assembly.
In some of the council areas visited by Radio Nigeria the reinstated council chairmen held meetings with top officials of their various councils.
The resumption also witnessed the inauguration of executive assistants that would work with the chairmen and councilors to ensure smooth running of local government affairs.
The chairmen refused to grant interview but our correspondent caught up with their voices as they explained that the inauguration of executive assistants was the initiative of Governor Kayode Fayemi to help in checking insecurity in the state by reporting any suspicious activity in their respective council areas to the chairmen for quick response.
They also used the forum to appreciate Governor Fayemi for giving them the opportunity to be reinstated and promised not to let him down.
