Loading gantry of the Nigeria National petroleum corporation, NNPC, Depot Apata Ibadan has been razed by fire. 

The Fire disaster which reportedly lasted for over an hour started around noon and left three tankers and some loading islands burnt.

Attempts to uncover the cause of the incident was frustrated by officials of NNPC as they harassed journalists and kept information away from them. 

However Radio Nigeria gathered from a witness who did not want her name mentioned that the fire lasted for too long because there were just few safety men on duty noting that others were students on internship.

She explained that efforts of tanker drivers and marketers helped in stopping the fire. 

Another witness expressed regrets that when the fire started, an official who was to handle the fire fighting truck resident in the Depot was not available. 

Meanwhile, The incident had thrown residents of NNPC area into confusion as they were already scampering for safety. 

Radio Nigeria also gathered that no casualty has been recorded.
