The Ondo State Government says it is proposing an “Electricity Law” to regulate generation and distribution in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Mr Tunji Light-Ariyo disclosed this while playing host to the Assembly Committee on Public Utilities and Transport on familiarisation visit at the State Electricity Board Office, Akure.

Mr Light-Ariyo noted that the law when finally passed would enable the state government to generate and control distribution of electricity in the state.

The Special Adviser explained that the board has no control over electricity distribution, which currently reflects on the situation facing it.

Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Kuti Towase commended the efforts of Ondo State Electricity Board in complementing the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.

Mr Towase urged the board to carry the lawmakers along in their dealings so as to enable them to get adequate information for the people they represent.

Members of the committee took turn to explain states of electricity supply in their various constituencies.
