Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has seek collaboration of the British government on training and re-training of teachers to improve the standards of education in the state.

He stated this when the British Deputy High Commissioner, Lagos, Mrs. Harriet Thompson led a team of British High Commission officials on a courtesy call to the governor in Ibadan.

Governor Makinde, who noted education was one of the four cardinal programmes of his administration, said training of teachers would in turn bring quality to the classrooms.

He noted that the Oyo State government was ready to leverage on the age-long relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom to improve the standard of education in the state.

Governor Makinde also stated that his administration was ready to collaborate with international organisations to enhance positive growth in the four cardinal programmes of the administration.

Earlier, the Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission Lagos, Harriett Thomson said that the United Kingdom was open to ensuring that the partnership and cooperation with Oyo State and other states in the South-West become more valuable.
