Traders in Oye and Ikole Ekiti have expressed concern over the closure of the two campuses of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, due to its effect on their businesses.

The traders, who spoke with Radio Nigeria lamented that the development had subjected them to hardship due to poor patronage.

According to them, sales had been so poor because the students were their major customers, adding that some of their perishable goods such as bread tomatoes, etc, had continued to waste on daily basis, thus making them to run into debts.

Some of the traders including Bukola Ogunbiyi, Adeola Kolawole and Seun Ajikawo pleaded with authorities of the university to reopen the campuses.

Motorists and commercial motorcyclists also complained that they now struggled for the passengers available.

FUOYE was closed about a month ago by the management over a violent protest by the student, which led to the death of two students as a result of alleged shooting by police.
