Ekiti to Enforce Quality Education in Public Schools
Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said his administration will build the capacity of Quality Assurance Officers in the state’s Education Sector. This is to enable them deliver effectively on the mandate of enforcing standards, monitoring of teaching and learning in public schools.
The Governor stated this in Ado-Ekiti while declaring open a two-day Training for the Quality Assurance Evaluators in the state.
Governor Fayemi had in January this year changed the nomenclature of old Inspectorate Department to Quality Assurance Department in the ministry of Education.
Dr Fayemi who spoke through the State Commissioner for Education, Mr Foluso Daramola reiterated government’s commitment to the provision of free, compulsory and basic education to all children of school age in the state.
The Governor disclosed that the training organized for Quality Assurance Officers would bring about tremendous improvement in the skills of the beneficiaries in monitoring of schools to improve the standard of education in Ekiti.
Two of the participants, Mr Fatoba Michael Sunday and Mrs Olaosebikan Margaret, however, appealed to the State Government to make the training a regular one so that they could perform their duties in accordance to National Policy on Education.
