Ekiti State has recorded first death from Coronavirus disease.

The victim is a twenty nine years old woman who came to Ekiti from Lagos.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mojisola Yahaya-Kolade said that a forty five years old man had also tested positive to the virus.

She said the woman died at the isolation centre at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti where she was receiving treatment at about seven o’clock in the morning.

The health commissioner explained that the fourth confirmed case was one of the medical doctors who attended to the deceased woman at a private.

She said that all the primary and secondary contacts with the woman and that of the new case had been tracked and currently on self-isolation, while those who could not afford to be self-isolated were put in government facility in Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking on COVID- 19 situation, the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Gbenga Agbeyo noted that there would be vehicular movement tomorrow/today but maintained that major markets in Ado-Ekiti and Ikere Ekiti would remained closed down.

On his part, Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Mr Muyiwa Olumilua cautioned the people against spreading rumour on the issue of COVID 19, saying that government was in control of the situation.
