Traders across the sixteen Local Government Areas in Ekiti State on Thursday defied government order which banned them from trading in major markets in Ado and Ikere-Ekiti.

The people who major in the sale of food items like garri, palm oil, vegetables, fruits, yam, pepper, rice, beans among others, thronged Ojaoba, Oja Bisi and Okeyinmi markets as early as five o clock in the morning.

Some of the Traders also barricaded the major roads making the areas difficult for motorists to pass, while some engaged in hot arguments.

Radio Nigeria team of reporters noticed that some of the traders including their customers were not unaware of the current coronavirus pandemic as many used face masks sewn from Ankara materials and surgical mask.

Some concerned people who spoke with our reporters observed that the traders completely threw social distancing into waste bin as the crowd was too much.

The people advised government to put in more efforts to control the crowd anytime public were given the grace to go to market during this coronavirus pandemic.
