Ondo State has recorded three fresh confirmed cases of coronavirus bringing to seven the total number of the cases in the state.

Among the cases is that of one of the suspected killers of the daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fashoranti and another police officer who allegedly drove the fourth case into Ondo State from Lagos and a woman who recently came in from Abuja.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, confirmed this to Radio Nigeria in an exclusive interview in Akure.

Dr Adegbenro explained that the police officer who is now fifth case allegedly left the moment he dropped his colleague in Akure yesterday but turned himself in this morning for treatment.

The commissioner said the two police officers had been admitted at the Infectious Disease Hospital along Igbatoro in Akure while the seventh case would also be isolated for treatment and proper monitoring.

Dr Adegbenro hinted that the suspected criminal, who also tested positive for coronavirus had been isolated at the facility of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Olokuta as he could not be brought to the Infectious Disease Hospital since he was facing a murder trial.

The commissioner noted that government had also begun contact tracing of all the active cases including police officers at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS in Akure where the suspected criminal was detained before he was remanded.
