Delta State Government has called for stronger ties with the media for continuous sensitization of the citizenry in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The State Commissioner for Information Mr. Charlse Aniagwu stated this during a visit to the Asaba Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Mr. Aniagwu, noted Delta State so far has fifty-one confirmed case of COVID-19, including thirty active cases, while attributing seven deaths recorded in the state to late reporting of ailment.

The commissioner also stressed that coronavirus is real and called for investigative journalism amongst practitioners to address misconceptions about the virus by some members of the public.

Earlier in a remark, Chairman Asaba Correspondent Chapel Mr. Paul Osuyi, appealed for collaboration with the state government to train journalists on proper reporting of the global health crises, and pledged the commitment of its members to pursue developmental and factual journalism.
