Police Commences Investigation into Rape, killing of Barakat, Azeezat
Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu, say an investigation has begun following the raping and killing of an 18-year-old, Barakat Bello, and a 29-year-old, Azeezat Somuyiwa, at Moniya in Akinyele Local Government Area.
This is contains in a statement issued in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi.
Mr Fadeyi said efforts were being intensified by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, to unravel the mystery behind the dastardly killing
The police spokesman reiterated the resolve of the command to get to the root of the matter and advised members of the public to be wary of hoodlums in their midst
He stated further that facts available indicated that Azezat Somuyiwa ‘f’ aged 29 years of Ijefun Community, Moniya, that was killed in the early hours of 5th June, 2020 by some assailants was smashed with stone on her head.
Mr Fadeyi pointed out that the Police boss in Oyo State had reiterated the command’s resolve to continue to rejig the security architecture for maximum protection of lives and property in the state.
He urged residents to continue to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation, saying adequate security measures had been put in place to respond promptly to any security threat.
