The Ogun House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the state government to urgently suspend the activities of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in order to avoid a crisis in the state.

The motion for the resolution was moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Yusuf Sherriff during plenary in Abeokuta, seconded by Mr Jemili Akingbade. 

The Majority Leader said that a committee of experienced unionist be put in place by the state government to handle the union’s operational weeks for the purpose of generating revenue into government’s coffer. 

He added that the committee should be under the monitoring of House Committee on Transportation. 

Earlier, Mr Oludaisi Elemide Chairman, House Committee on Transportation, speaking under personal explanation, had hinted the House on the impending crisis in the NURTW. 

In a remark, the Speaker, Mr Olakunle Oluomo reiterated that the House of Assembly would not allow the members of NURTW to turn the state to theater of war.
