A political scientist, Mr Joshua Adedeji has described the disqualification of Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki by APC gubernatorial screening committee as a potential danger for the party.

Mr Adedeji believed that the decision of the screening committee was influenced by powerful individuals in the party, saying if such development was not carefully handled, the ruling party would blame itself.

‘’I believe there is no justification for the decision of the screening committee, if not for individual interest because I believe this is not in the party’s interest.

When you have god father and godson relationship and the son refuses to be loyal, the reverse is always the case.

Adams Oshiomole is hell bent in ensuring that obaseki did not get the ticket. But I don’t think this is the best for APC at all.

I knew from outset that Obaseki will never get the ticket.

I strongly believe Obaseki will move to another party and this will make the election 50/50 tough and 50/50 easy for APC and Obaseki.

It is going to be a battle of power of incumbency against Federal ‘might’ he said

Adedeji hinted that with the development, Governor Obaseki could defect to another party and thus provide a very strong opposition for the governorship election.

The screening committee had disclosed that Governor Obaseki was disqualified on the grounds that he did not submit some results as well as discrepancy on his name on his NYSC certificate.
