A 27-year-old mobile phone repairer, Akanmu Jamiu has allegedly withdrawn about half a million naira from the account of one of his customers.

This was disclosed when he was dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for fraudulently withdrawing the sum of N466,500 from the account of one Babatunde Jamiu.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq informed the court that the accused person committed the offense between May, 18th and July 3rd, 2020, in Osogbo.

The Prosecutor explained that the accused person was given a phone to repair, and he took the advantage to hack the details of his customer, making it possible for him to withdraw the large sum.

According to Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.

The accused person pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Mr Okobe Najite applied for his bail with argument that he was a first time offender.

In his ruling Magistrate, E I Omisade ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesa Correctional Center. 

He thereby adjourned the matter till 15th of July, 2020 for ruling on the bail application.
