Gunmen have reportedly invaded Isinbode-Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State abducting three persons.

The incident which was said to have occurred Friday evening was carried out by ten assailants.

Their first port of call was a local sawmill along Isinbode-Ode road, attacking and dispossessing the workers of personal belongings and as well abducting two of their victims..

Thereafter, the kidnappers waylaid a Hilux Van conveying a top government official with salvo of gunshots before making away with one of its occupants believed to be a senior government official, while the driver of the Hilux Van sustained gunshot wounds.

Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, who  confirmed the incident, disclosed that one of the victims had escaped while the senior government functionary, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, remain trapped along with the third person.

DSP Sunday Abutu, assured that captives would regain freedom as    personnel of the Police command in the state were already tracking the kidnappers, adding that the shot driver was receiving treatment at a hospital.
