The Sultan of Sokoto and president general, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic affairs, Alhaji Muhamad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Friday, the 31st July 2020 as Eid-el Kabir day.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Sokoto, reports that the declaration which is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs at the council, Professor Sambo Wali Junaid, noted that the 31st of July, 2020, will also be equivalent to the tenth of Zul hijjah 1441.

The sultan according to the statement, advised all district heads and Imams in Sokoto state to observe the Eid prayers at Juma’at mosques rather than Eid praying grounds in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

He advised Muslim communities across the country to also observe the Eid prayers at their respective Juma’at mosques with a view to checking the spread of the pandemic.

While felicitating with the Nigeria Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the forthcoming Eid-el Kabir celebration, the sultan also admonished them to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.
