Schools in Ogun State have established sick bay and isolation rooms on the school premises as part of efforts to check the spread of COVID-19.
The measures were part of the initiatives introduced by the authorities as final year pupils in secondary schools across the state returned to class in preparation for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Our Correspondent who monitored the situation at some public and private schools observed that both pupils and teachers were engaged in various activities to make the environment conducive.
When Radio Nigeria visited some schools at Obada Oko, Olomore, Idi Aba, and Ita Iyalode areas of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the pupils were been offered protective kits, including face masks and hand sanitizers.

The principal of Merciful Comprehensive College, Obada Oko, Mr Ajayi Joel explained that the school, in compliance with the guidelines had provided isolation centers at both the boarding section and school premises, apart from the procurement of infrared thermometer.
Also the principal of African Church Grammar School, Ita Iyalode, Mr Ajayi Ismaeel pointed out that the school facilities had been decontaminated as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19
Mr Ajayi who announced that 15 pupils were allowed in each class, said eating outside the school premises had also been prohibited.
Some of the pupils who spoke with Radio Nigeria commended the state government for the provision of face masks which were customized to match their school uniforms.
The pupils promised to complement the government’s efforts by complying with various guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the schools.
