Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State has promised to secure pipelines of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State, Mr Iskilu Akinsanya stated this when the executives of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, paid a courtesy visit to the corps at its headquarters in Ibadan.

Mr Akinsanya noted that the corps’ collaboration with NNPC was as part of the effort to bring the right of ways of NNPC’s pipelines in a safer position for uninterrupted passage of premium motor spirit, PMS, within the state where the pipelines pass through.

Mr Akinsanya noted that the corps would ensure safety of lives and properties, especially curbing vandalism in pipeline right of ways is the priority of the corps.

The NSCDC boss enjoined the executives of IPMAN to orientate their members in order to put an end to diversion of PMS as whoever is caught would face the wrath of the law.

Earlier, Chairman of IPMAN in Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiu Bukola, who was accompanied by members of his executive commended the corps for their relentless effort and support given towards the adequate monitoring of the right of ways of PMS.  

He sought for more support from the corps as the Federal Government had deregulated the oil sector and appealed for partnership to enable his administration enjoy the existing cordial relationship with NSCDC.
