Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has directed the police to investigate yesterday’s clash between supporters of the APC and PDP .

The governor described the incident as unfortunate considering the prevailing peace in the state.

He then tasked the police to ensure that campaign itinerary of various political parties were properly aligned to avoid further clashes.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate , Eyitayo Jegede has said that the attack on his campaign convoy was an attempt on his life.

Mr Jegede at a news conference in Akure revealed that he called the attention of the governor to the incident and the governor promised to call the APC supporters to order.

In the meantime, candidate of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, Dotun Ojon has condemned series of acts of violence allegedly orchestrated by supporters of the APC and PDP ahead of the election.

The YPP candidate asked both parties to learn and adopt the peaceful manner in which the YPP was going about its campaigns and garnering supports of the masses. 

There has been a political upheaval in the state as the October 10 Governorship Election approaches with the two prominent parties trading blames.

The latest was yesterday’s violence between the two camps which met at Oba Akoko while on their way for campaigns in Akoko areas of the state.

A campaign vehicle was reportedly burnt during the fracas but no life was lost.
