Oyo State Executive Council has re-awarded Saki township road for the sum of #4.7 Billion.

The state Commissioner for Education, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye stated this while briefing newsmen after the weekly executive council meeting.

He explained that the Saki township road was initially awarded by the previous administration for over 8 billion naira with only 3 billion naira paid before it was revoked and re-awarded. 

Mr Olaleye who noted that the project would be completed within 12 months said it would be funded through an alternative funding approach with the contractor bearing the cost while government would refund over a period of 28 months .

Also speaking, the state commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Seun Ashamu noted that the executive council has also awarded the Gedu/Oroki/Sabo/Asipa road in Oyo town for a total sum of #2.9 billion.

Similarly, the state commissioner for justice, professor Oyelowo Oyewo, explained that the Oyo state government has approved the purchase of #84 million fire truck for the Ibadan Airport to improve its facilities for the prevention of fire accidents.

Professor Oyelowo gave the hint that the state government would revise the state Energy and Mineral Resources law of 2019 and modify its functions very soon.
