A coalition of civil society organizations, CSOs, in Delta State have called on the government and security agents to apply restraint in the management of protests by youths in the state and other parts of the country.

The state coordinator of the CSOs Deacon Okezi Odugala made this known in a statement in Asaba, where he enjoined residents of the state to obey the forty-eight hours curfew imposed by the Delta State Government.

Mr. Odugala condemned the killing of protesters by security personnel in parts of the country, describing the act as a violation of the rights to association and peaceful protests by the citizens.

The leader of the civil society group also called on members of the international community and the diplomatic corps to treat with urgency all reports and evidence tendered on behalf of the victims with a view to apply appropriate and timely sections.

Mr. Okezi Odugala, who observed that civil society organizations in the state grieve with all Nigerians at these trying times, further urged the youths to always pursue justice through civil avenues in the efforts to make their voices heard.

He added that religious and traditional leaders in the state and nation should rise to the occasion and impress on their followers the need to promote peaceful coexistence in their domains.
