Media professionals have been encouraged to always celebrate themselves regardless of their socioeconomic status.

The General Manager, Radio Nigeria Paramount FM 94.5, Abeokuta, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle gave the advice during the send-off of the station’s former Head of Engineering Department, Mr James Oghenedherene .

Alhaji Odekunle, who lamented the nonchalant attitude of media professionals to self-appreciation, implored them to cultivate the habit of giving recognition to hard-work among themselves, stating that no one would blow the trumpet for them.

The General Manager, while describing the retiree as a detribalized person, despite being an Urhobo-man, maintained that he had contributed immensely to the development of Radio Nigeria.

In their goodwill messages, the heads of other departments, Mrs Oluremi Olugbenro from News, Mr Oladapo Oyekanmi of Programmes, Mrs Adetutu Awonuga of Marketing and the representative of Audit, Mr Olatunji Ishola, noted that the retiree while in service, was an upright, friendly, dedicated and hard-working staff who always strove to keep the station on Air.

Also, some members of the Engineering Department, including Mr Tokunbo Otolorin and Tunde Adigun stated that the retiree was a teacher and selfless boss who devoted more time and attention to train his subordinates.

In a remark, the Manager Engineering, Mr Oluwaseun Odeyemi noted that the contribution of the retiree could not be underestimated as he had impacted positively on many young Engineers.

Responding, the retiree, Mr James Oghenedherene expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life after retirement and the staff of Engineering Department for the honour done him

 Mr Oghenedherene advised the staff to remain dedicated and committed to duty without expecting commendation from mankind, but to look forward to reward from God.
