Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 55 year old man, Ishau Falana for allegedly beating his relative Badmus Rafiu to death over bush burning.
The suspect was arrested after the younger brother of the deceased reported incident at Ayetoro divisional headquarters.
He said the suspect accosted the deceased to farm at Oluwasogo area of Ijaka Isale and challenged him for burning bush very close to his farm.
The deceased’s younger brother told policemen the suspect used a stick to beat him to state of coma after he had overpowered him in a fight.
The Police Public Relations officer, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed this in a statement in Abeokuta said the suspect claimed that he never knew the incident could lead to death.
Mr. Oyeyemi said the The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
