Oyo State Government has approved the payment of 8 billion naira to its Osun State counterpart in line with assets sharing agreement on the sole ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH.

The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye stated this while briefing newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Ibadan.

Mr Olaleye who said the payment would be spread within three years, explained that 1 billion naira each would be paid in January and December 2021.

He added that 3 billion naira would be paid in 2022 while the last 3 billion naira would be cleared in 2023.

Also, the Oyo State Commissioner for Energy, Mr Seun Ashamu disclosed that the state executive council has approved the sum of 92 million naira to provide constant electricity supply to the Rural Community Development Centre, Awe in Afijio Local Government Area of the state with the use of solar power, diesel generator, and battery storage.

He added that the state government has also approved a sum of 750 thousand naira for the procurement of 60 bicycles to convey civil servants and visitors within the state Secretariat to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Mr Ashamu who noted that the bicycles would be tagged “Keke Seyi” explained that health protocols and procedures would be deployed to ensure adequate protection of all against contracting the dreaded Coronavirus while making use of the bicycles.
