Police Pensioners under the contributory Pension Scheme wants Federal Government to remove members of the Nigeria Police Force from the contributory pension scheme for them to enjoy their post service life.
Appearing before the Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, Members of Oyo State Chapter of the Police Pensioners Under Contributory Pension Scheme, noted that the scheme had been making life difficult for them.
The Judicial Panel of Inquiry was set up to handle various complaints from members of the public against Police brutality from members of the Public .
Presenting their petition titled ” call for the reform of the Nigeria Police Force: the way forward: the Provost of the Police Pensioners, Retired CSP Benjamin Akande said Police were being marginalized compared to condition of service other security agencies were enjoying.
Retired CSP Akande said other security agencies had been removed from contributory pension scheme while police were not allowed to leave.
He said “the issue of brutality and discrimination within the Force should be checkmated by promoting all officers as and when due in accordance with the service records while the issue of National promotion should be abandoned as it is illegal.
CSP Akande said government should frequently maintain equipment and facilitiesused by the Force to enhance their performance.
He called for immediate payment of death benefits and gratuity to the families of police officers that died while in service.
Contributing, Officer in Charge of Legal Department in Oyo State Police Command CSP FUNKE Fawole who also lamented poor condition of service appealed to government toward improved welfare of Police officer.
According to her, “the whole country need to come to the aid of Police, as the country cannot do without them for the protection of their lives and property.
Responding to the petition, a member of the panel, Babatunde Oduyiye commended the police Pensioners for the initiative and advised them to ensure that their petition get to the Federal government.

For how long Nigeria government will continue to neglect it’s own police but prefer to use the force to victimized it citizens in every slitted issue with an opposition , this is too bad to a giant of Africa, every day people are been killed the said reform we have been yearning since Democracy 1999 till date has not been implemented , for how long things will continue to be like this, pls Nigerians shine ur eyes either do or die we most vote any incompetent government down to the local government out enough of all this nonsense in Nigeria am tired to be in Nigeria talk more of working for this country.
