The Osun State House of Assembly wants Tertiary Institutions to produce graduates that are skilled to make them financially independent.

Chairman House Committee on Education, Mr. Babatunde Ibirogba made the call while addressing newsmen after the oversight visit of the committee to Osun State College of Education, Ilesa and Osun State College of Technology Esa-oke.

Mr. Ibirogba noted that tertiary institutions in the country only produced graduates without technical skill to sustain them after graduation.

He urged managements of all tertiary institutions in the State to reposition and make enterpreneurship and skill acquisition compulsory for their students to reduce number of graduates seeking white collar jobs.

They commended the management of the two tertiary institutions for the technological development in the school.

In their various comments the Provost Osun State College of Education Ilesa, Professor Kolawole Kazeem and Rector Osun State College of Technology Esa-oke, Dr. Samson Adegoke promised to lift the institutions to greater height and sustain good legacy of the founding fathers.

While calling for increase in budget allocation to education sector, Professor Kazeem and Dr. Adegoke urged the State government to recruit more staff to replace those who have retired from service.
