Some youths on Thursday stormed the streets of Iloko-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State protesting the delay in the appointment of a traditional ruler for the community.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as “E Gbawa Ni Ilu
Iloko”, “Governor Oyetola Approve Our King” and “Iloko-Ijesa Nfe Oba”.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, a youth leader, Mr Lawrence Odeyemi
expressed displeasure that eight years after the demise of the late
Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Oladele Olasore, the community had been without a king.

The youth leader said government had conducted an election for
eligible princes without the notice of the community and failed to
install the winner.

Mr Odeyemi explained that the absence of a king had stalled the
execution of developmental projects like schools, modern markets and
the proposed dam project in the community.

He then called on Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State to urgently approve the appointment of a king to ensure normalcy returns to the ancient town.
