The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council has called on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to fulfill his promise of appointing at least one qualified journalist or Information Manager as Permanent Secretary as he kick-starts his second term in office.

While congratulating Mr Akeredolu, and his new deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa on their inauguration to pilot the affairs of the state for another four years, Ondo NUJ urged them to build on successes recorded in the first term.

The Union while made the plea in a communique issued at the end of its monthly meeting and signed by the State Secretary, Leke Adegbite, directed land subscribers to the NUJ Pen Estate at Osi community near Akure Airport to immediately commence massive development of their land.

The NUJ Congress notes with concern the disturbing rate of insecurity across the country especially the kidnapping of school pupils; and calls on Governor Akeredolu not to relent in empowering Amotekun Corps to tackle security challenges facing Ondo State, while security agencies should up their game against bandits and kidnappers.
