Herders-Farmers Clash: Gov. Abiodun Strengthens Joint Security Squad To Restore Peace
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has presented 10 operational vehicles and 20 motorcycles to the joint security interventions squad towards tackling perennial Farmers – Herders conflict in Ogun West Senatorial district of the state.
At the handing – over ceremony held at the Arcade ground Oke Mosan Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun said his administration would ensure that normalcy returned to the affected communities.
Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that the presentation of vehicles and motorcycles to the joint security interventions squad was part of efforts of his administration to fortify the squad towards ensuring that peace reign in the affected communities.
The Governor emphasized that government would not tolerate acts that could truncate peaceful coexistence in the state, noting that the taskforce would soon extend its operations to other senatorial districts of the state.
Governor Abiodun gave the assurance that his administration would continue to support and strengthen the operations of all security agencies in the state.
He also advised the people against misusing the social media to spread fake news, adding that the government was working on a law to punish sponsors of fake news in the state.
Responding on behalf of other heads of security agencies, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun commended the governor for his quick intervention in addressing the farmers-herders crisis in the state.
