Enumeration Area Demarcation: NPC Sensitizes Ogbomoso Residents
National Population Commission has sensitized people of Ogbomoso South and Surulere Local Government areas of Oyo State on the 2021 census Enumeration Area Demarcation Exercise, EAD.
Adedayo Adelowo, who witnessed the exercise in the two local government areas, reports that the EAD is a step ahead of the National Population census.
Speaking at the event, Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Oyo State ,Dr Èyítayo Oyetunji said the essence of the exercise was to educate the public on modalities of the population census.
The commissioner advised residents of the two local government areas to cooperate with the Ad-hoc staff in the Census Enumeration Area Demarcation Exercise in Nigeria.
Dr Oyetunji explained that the stage which just kicked off was to ensure proper identification of each household.
Dr Oyetunji urged religious leaders and traditional rulers in the areas to further sensitize their followers to partake actively in the process for rapid grassroots development.
In a remark, member, representing Ògo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Segun Odebunmi while commending President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative, explained that the programme would help government to plan well for the people.
On politics, Mr.Odebunmi hinted that the Enumeration and Demarcation programme would assist the electorate to take part fully during the election since more wards and polling booths would be created.
Reacting, a traditional ruler in Ogbomoso South Local Government, Onpetu of Ijeruland, Ọba Sunday Oyediran urged the National Population Commission to ensure accuracy in the enumeration.
