FG to Commence Warri-Itakpe Rail Freight Services

The Federal Government will today inaugurate the freight services on the Warri Itakpe standard gauge rail project .

The event is to be done by the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi at the Ujevwu railway station, Warri, Delta State where the rail line terminates.

The Itakpe Warri railway project which connects Kogi State to Delta State is a 276km railway line, known as the Central railway line.

There are 12 stations along the railway line and commercial activities began in 2018.

The construction of the rail line was handled by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation at the cost of seventy-two billion naira.
