Residents of Ifon, Osun State have described the transition of Olufon of Ifon, Oba Al- Maroof Magbagbeola as a great loss to the ancient city.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, Adedayo Adelowo visited the ancient town to feel the pulse after the transition of the monarch.

First sight at the entrance of the palace was a gathering of a number of women wearing sorrowful looks.

At another chamber were the chiefs and other sympathizers who were obviously depressed and downcast.

There were evident signs that some traditional rights had been carried out at the palace.

The throne at the inner chamber had been turned to face the wall, indicating that the usual occupant was no more.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, next in command to the transitioned monarch, Eesa Ifon, Babatunde Oyetunji said the late monarch was a statesman who lived for Ifon and made great sacrifice for the ancient town.

Omoboyede Kazeem was the personal assistant to the deceased traditional ruler who believed Oba Al- Maroof Adekunle was blessed with an outstanding leadership style.

National Publicity Secretary of Ifon Orolu Progressive Union, Prince Jide Akinyooye said the monarch united Ifon town with other neighbouring towns with the power of humility.

Iyalode Ifon, Lamlat Afolabi said the monarch departed at an awkward time when all he laboured for were about to materialize.
