Female aspirants in the coming Ogun State Local Government election have been exempted from payment of non-refundable deposit requirements for participation in the election.

The Chairman, Ogun state Independent Electoral Commission, OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osinbodu who made this known at the Stakeholders meeting with Representatives of  political parties said the decision was to encourage the female gender to participate in the election.

The state electoral body Chairman explained that the commission had resolved to conduct elections that would be free, fair and credible.

Mr. Osibodu said the electoral body would operate an open door policy and urged all registered political parties in the state to co-operate with the commission to achieve successful Local Government Election.

In a reaction Chairman of the People Democratic Party in Ogun State, Alhaji Sikirullah Ogundele expressed reservation with the process claiming that no formal invitations were issued to political parties to attend the meeting.

Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Mr. Olaposi Oginni while speaking with newsmen urged OGSIEC to brace up for the challenge of conducting a credible local government election.
