Fourteen people have been confirmed dead while three persons sustained varying degree of injuries in a fatal crash that occurred on the long bridge in Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The spokesman of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident in statement in Abeokuta, said the fatal crash occurred around 8pm on Thursday.

Mr Akinbiyi said the accident involved Toyota RAV4 car marked LND 13 GS, a Toyota Camry with registration number GGE 369 GJ and burnt MAZDA bus with unidentified number.

He explained that the burnt bus had overtaken wrongfully and hit a car that had broken down on the road which led to fire outbreak after several summersaults. 

 Mr Akinbiyi noted that Ogun TRACE had taken two of the victims to Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre while one was taken to the General Hospital Gbagada, Lagos. 

While commiserating with the family of the dead victims, he advised drivers to desist from over speeding, wrongful overtaking and nonchalant attitude that could expose other road users to risk and danger.
