An Islamic Scholar, Justice Abdulraheem Sayi has called on religious leaders and traditional rulers to desist from conferring chieftaincy titles on people of questionable character.

Justice Sayi who is also the Kadhi, Kwara State Sharia Court made the call while delivering a lecture entitled “Threat to National Security and Unity: Religion as a panacea or problem” at a special Ramadan Iftar held at the Arcade ground, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

While explaining that promoting and rewarding people of questionable character remained a treat to national security, Justice Sayi urged the Muslims and Christians to be united irrespective of their religious differences in the bid to improving security architecture across the country.

The Islamic scholar who also called on journalists to practice responsive journalism, admonished them not to ignite crisis or cause the disintegration of Nigeria.

Also, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who called on Nigerians to always engage in activities that would promote unity, peace and security in the country, urged Muslim faithful to take advantage of the holy month to pray for Nigeria.
