The Chairman Senate Committee of the Asaba Zonal Center of the ongoing nationwide hearing on the review of the 1999 constitution, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, say the platform would enable the people of Delta, Bayelsa and Edo states to make their inputs in process.

Senator Omo-Agege made this known at the state capital during the South-South Zonal hearing on the proposed review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Deputy President of the Senate represented by Senator James Manager noted the focus of the committee was to manage the hearing in a manner that would be deemed to be transparent, fair, and credible.

Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Sherrif Oborewori, called for the setting up of a state police to handle issues at the state level and a federal police to deal with criminal offences with national character.

Memoranda were also submitted to the committee by opinion, religious, youth and traditional leaders.

Meanwhile, protesters also stormed the venue of the public hearing on constitutional review with placards such as: Yes to Pension on the Exclusive Legislative List; Yes to Full Autonomy of State House of Assembly and Workers Say No to Minimum Wage on Concurrent List.
