People of Ekiti state have been advised not to see farming as a punishment but an occupation that proffer solution to hunger.

The Ekiti state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Olabode Adetoyi gave the advice while addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

Mr. Adetoyi implored people of the state to show much interest in Agriculture to complement government efforts aimed at banishing hunger in Ekiti.

He pointed out that people could cultivate small piece of land where maize, pepper, tomatoes, okra, vegetables among others would be planted and harvested within three months instead of buying these items from the market.

According to him, money expended on these farm produce daily could be used to cater for other things.

The commissioner observed that God blessed Ekiti with good arable land coupled with favourable weather condition, hence people must utilize this advantage.
