Ogun State government has renewed its determination to enforce necessary regulations to ensure residents earmark 10 to 20 percent of their lands for green vegetation.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Olatunji Odunlami who made this known in Abeokuta while speaking with journalists ahead of World Habitat Day, said the step was to reduce Carbon emissions which depletes the ozone layer.

Mr. Odunlami said the ministry would continue to engage stakeholders to elicit necessary behavioural change in the bid to keep the environment safe and more habitable.

The Physical Planning and Urban Development Commissioner who described proper waste disposal as essential to mitigate the effects of global warming said the government had encouraged the use of energy-efficient lightings to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya who described the act of burning refuse as wicked and punishable under the law in the state, said the government would no longer condone such action in any part of the state.

Mr. Oresanya said the government had put in place an efficient door-to-door waste disposal system across the state.
