Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says his administration will redouble its efforts at solving the challenge of poor quality of teachers in public schools across the state.

The Governor stated this at the 92nd anniversary and annual reunion of Government College Ibadan Old boys association, held at the school’s premises, Apata.

Governor Makinde, while noting that the quality of teachers in public schools in recent time had become worrisome, promised to ensure that the state policies on education was exceptional.

The Governor who also called on parents to complement government’s efforts at molding moral values of their children, commended the GCI Old boys association for always giving back to their alma matter.

In a remark, National president, GCI old boys association, Mr. Wale Babalakin argued that the nation’s school system would significantly improve, if the government handed over the management of most public schools to old students association and concern bodies.

Also, chairman reunion planning committee, Pastor Yinka Adepoju said improving the quality of education would not only raise the bar of knowledge but check the increasing rate of vices among secondary school students.
