People from all walks of life have converged on Ola town, Osun state to pay their last respect to Pa Abiodun Olaoye Akande.

Pa Akande who bade the world farewell on September 8th this year was aged eighty-seven.

Pa Akande was one of the first ICT gurus in Nigeria.

At the funeral held at First Baptist Church, Ola, Reverend Simeon Bankole reminded mankind that death was the inevitable end of all hence the need to do good always.

The cleric urged Christians to strive to justify the trust God reposed on them noting that God expected everyone to be responsible to him on earth.

He reminded Christians that they would give account of their stewardship before the maker.

First son of the deceased, Mr.Olayinks Akande described his late father as embodiment of humility and talents.

He said the outstanding quality of his late father qualified him to be among the first computer Engineer in Nigeria and West Africa.

“He was a very humble and kind man. He was a very deep and a temperate man. He got full scholarship by IBM to study what we have now as computer engineering he was passionate about giving people not only financial substance but giving people integrity.

He came from a challenging environment where opportunities were limited but the grace of God lifted him up. He was among the pioneering set of computer practitioners in Africa excluding North and South Africa.

His death was a huge loss although we enjoyed him for eighty-seven years.

My father lived an exemplary life, I am happy about that”. He said.

Some of the well wishers who attended the event described the deceased as a man of many parts.
