Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo has charged the security formations in the state to rise to the task by stemming the tide of cult-related killings, armed robbery and illegal activities, noting that such activities had continued to throw residents into palpable fear.

Mr. Oluomo gave the charge during the plenary at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, while expressing worry over the recent rising spate of crimes and criminality in some parts of the Abeokuta metropolis, especially communities in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.

The speaker enjoined the members of the communities to ensure sustained synergy with security operatives and offer credible and timely information to them towards aiding their operational strategies to checkmate the activities of the criminals.

He also tasked the Community Development Councils and Associations to liaise with members of the vigilante in their respective communities towards ensuring increasing monitoring and patrol of the entire constituency.

Earlier, a member representing Abeokuta South II State Constituency, Mr. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, while speaking under personal explanation, had lamented the unlawful acts of criminality being perpetrated with impunity by armed robbers, cultists and street urchins in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.

Mr. Ademuyiwa stressed that these acts often forced many road users and traders to shut down their businesses unduly leading to losses.
