State Security Service (SSS) has arraigned two men before an Osun State Magistrate for fraudulently obtaining a sum of five million, eight hundred and eighty thousand Naira through operation of illegal and unregistered forex businesses called ‘D-Delight Binary and Forex Investment Company LTD’ and ‘Alatmax’. 

The two persons, Abiodun Ayomide Matthew and Alogba Olayinka Yusuf, aged 24 and 32 allegedly committed the offence between October and December, 2020 in Osogbo.

Abiodun and Alogba were alleged to have defrauded of one Atilola Atilade Adeleke of four million and four hundred thousand Naira and Akintifonbo Anuoluwapo Tejumola of one million, five hundred and eighty thousand Naira only. 

The offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 5.16 and 419 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 34, Volume 2, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The two persons pleaded not guilty.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Bola Abimbola while pleading for bail cited the fact that the case had been in care of Department of State Service (DSS) for sometimes and the accused never failed to make appearances when required, hence if granted administrative bail, would not abuse it. 

Reacting, the prosecuting counsel said what matters was the presence of the defendants during their trials.

In a ruling, the Magistrate Mr M.A Olatunji granted the defendants bail wth a sum of of two million Naira each, two sureties who must be residents within the court jurisdictions and at least Level 14 civil servants with verified addresses, 3 years Tax evidences and three passport photographs which must be verified by the prosecutor. 

Mr Olatunji adjourned the case to 27th of January, 2022.
